random musings

Apologies once again for not blogging regularly; the cold hard truth is that after a day in the life of an auditor, there ain’t much life in the old dog to blog about the day musings or thoughts (not much musings anyway).

Have been thinking about issues that had grappled some of my friends since graduation. Contemplations, contemplations. Perhaps I don’t really know what I want.

When the government announced that the casinos are going to bring billions to the country, I almost disbelieved them. However, I reckoned now that the estimations are not that much far off. I am involved in some “cash count” activities in my Firm and it is amazing how a single clubhouse (name undisclosed) can generate more than $200k in a single week, bearing in mind that this particular clubhouse has the least number of machines compared to other branches. Looks like Singaporeans are richer than I thought. Oooo, the things I will do to have a slice of the casino pie. Sure win and no lose one lo. Poor punters.

A bit late here to blog about the Hady vs Jon affair for the last Singapore Idol finals. Well, too bad Jon. It’s just too bad that you postponed a year’s of study just for this competition. Perhaps you will become famous, perhaps you will fade into oblivion. I don’t really care. Thousands of your young female fans may gush about how cute your are but to me, that one incident during reservist 2 years ago forever mar the image of you in my mind.

Personal issue aside, I find the entire Singapore Idol episode hilarious. To those people out there who had voted: how does it benefit you now that your favorite idol lost? To those who voted for Hady: how does it benefit you now that he had won? I really really don’t see any sense in GIVING money away to the telco company and to the judges for the competition. As long as there are A MILLION votes for a single finals, you can be sure that this franchise will continue and generate other spring-offs until the teens are milked dry.

And in the event if they really become famous, their songs can be downloaded for free over the internet. That’s freedom for you.
